About the event

History is not just about what happened—it is about how we interpret the past and understand its impact on our present and future. This Summer School offers an engaging introduction to the key themes of premodern and early modern phases of Bengal’s history.

Participants will explore major events, historiography and historical debates while building a strong analytical foundation. Through discussions, research projects and hands-on archival work, the participants will develop essential skills in critical thinking and historical inquiry.

A special focus is placed on close reading of primary sources, helping the participants to navigate the tension between colonial archives and vernacular memory in shaping historical narratives. Guided by experienced historians and tailored to your interests, the programme opens pathways to diverse historical themes and potential research areas.
